One chapter ends as another begins with the celebration of another anniversary milestone…

The end of November may mark the end of the Thanksgiving holiday, but it is far from the end of Mitchell Golf as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary.  As we reflect on all the great relationships that we have built over the years and all the new ones we’ve established, we are thankful to all of you for your continued support. Mitchell Golf would also like say thank you to Ed Mitchell.

An active 50-year member of the PGA, Ed began his career in 1967. He would serve as a head golf professional for numerous clubs in Michigan and Florida before founding Mitchell Golf in 1988. He wanted to offer golf professionals a reliable and repeatable way to measure and bend golf clubs – even clubs with offset hosels, or clubs that were made with steel. It wasn’t long before he became legendary for his custom club making, fitting, and repair, and Mitchell Golf soon became the industry standard for angle machines.

Ed and his wife, Gwen, ran a successful business in Dayton, Ohio for 28 years. When he made the decision to sell it, he looked for a buyer that would have the manufacturing expertise necessary to deliver a high level of quality that was associated with Mitchell Golf Equipment. That’s where Caster Concepts entered the game.

Caster Concept’s design, engineering, and manufacturing expertise, as well as their ability to uncover new opportunities for product development and process enhancement, aligned perfectly with Ed Mitchell’s vision.

A dream come true.

It also was important to pass the company on to someone who shared Ed’s passion for golf, and he found that with new partners Andrew and Stephanie Dobbins. “Most people may not know that my first career and my passion is the golf business” notes Andrew Dobbins. “I graduated from Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management program and spent nearly a decade as a PGA professional before returning to the family business at Caster Concepts. For my love of golf and manufacturing to come together is a dream come true.”

While Ed played a vital role over the last two years, it was time to find the person who will take on the responsibility of being the face of Mitchell Golf. That torch (or driver) was passed on to Patrick Gallagher, a PGA Professional who joined the Mitchell team as the Director of Sales and Golf Operations.

Patrick has upheld the company’s standing as the industry leader of professional grade measuring, bending, and club repair equipment. Patrick is also committed to Mitchell Golf’s responsibility in providing education and resources for golf professionals, club builders and players at all levels of the game.

Thanks to Ed, and thanks to all of you who respect the man, the game, and a company that is focused on providing club repair tools that are the benchmark for golf industry professionals around the country. Here’s to an exciting future!
